174 Teen Help Now!

Parents who need help with their teen now!

Print

Hi, my name is Bobby Douglas and I am a single father with 2 teenagers. A few months ago I had no idea where to go or WHO to call to help me with my daughter. She had run away for the 3rd time and every time we called the police they would tell us she would come back the next day and don't worry. They answer hundreds of calls every week from parents in my same situation.

The real kicker was when I finally got a hold of my daughter. She called me few choice words that I don't care to repeat and then told me that she wasn't coming home and there was nothing I could do. She hated living with me and was going to get a job and live on her own. I thought to myself, for one thing has she lost her mind, then I thought, can she really do that? She is only 14.

What rights do I have as a parent? Will I get arrested if I bring her back home? She will just run away again the first chance she gets so what's the use. I had every crazy thought go through my head because I had no idea what my rights were and what I could do to actually help my daughter.

Help with your teen runawayThe scary part was when she finally came home and I looked in her eyes. It was like staring into the eyes of the devil. Was she possessed I thought? It must be the drugs, right? Well come to find out it was the drugs. At age 14, doing drugs, smoking, having sex, cutting herself, skipping school and running away. This can't be happening to my family. The answer is a lot of families are going through the same thing and unfortunately the results don't turn out too well.

I don't know how many times I heard from friends that she is just going through a phase and she would grow out of it. What are the chances she will actually survive to her 16th birthday. Not too good if I don't do something drastic and right-away!

We tried the therapist…that was the biggest waste of time and money I have ever seen. They either want to recommend prescription drugs or spend 6 months trying to find out why my daughter is acting like she is. Duh!!! She is a rebellious and know-it-all teenager!

I knew that when my wife and I went through our divorce, it would probably mess up one if not both of our daughters. Do I need a therapist and spend 6 months to figure that out? I needed answers on how to help my daughter now because she was out of control and acting crazzzyyy!

I need to mention a very important part of this whole equation. My wife had custody of our daughter and I only saw her on the weekends and one day during the week.

My ex-wife had finally had enough. She called me and asked me to come pick her up and take custody of her. I told her that if I took custody I was going to take some drastic measures and that I would help her straighten out her life.

She agreed and we met half way at a restaurant. When she dropped off my daughter she had this look on her face that I will never forget. It was like looking at a blank slate. "No one was home" look. She was dressed all in black. Her haired was dyed black and she had very dark makeup with bright red lipstick. I thought to myself, what in the world...no wonder she is depressed and on drugs.

When we got home I got on the internet and starting looking up teen boot camps, military schools and basically someplace that I could send her so I could get her the help she needed. After hours of searching the net I found plenty of teen boot camps, military schools and retreats for troubled teens but what I also found out is all these places were very expensive. I would spend what ever it took to help my daughter but where in the heck was I going to come up with the money they were talking about.

Then it hit me. It was time to implement my own boot camp! I've played and coached sports all my life and worked on the space shuttle. I should be able to figure out how to help my own child.

When I was on the Jet Ski racing tour I had to follow a set of rules and race around buoys until I reached the finish line. If I didn't follow the rules or cut the race course I would get disqualified or loose the race. My rule book was hundred of pages thick but I still had to follow the rules.

The other thing that I kept hearing was that when you get divorced you lose the family structure. Your kids are used to following a set routine and when they are bouncing back and forth between parents those routines are all shuffled up.

What I needed to do was to create structure and a solid but simple set of rules that would provide structure for my daughter. K.I.S.S = Keep it simple stupid.

"Very enjoyable and interesting. 174 Teen Help was very helpful and tried to help me sort out many problems. I joined because I am already experiencing problems with my teens; I want to avoid more problems and have a desire to learn as much as I can on how to be a better parent and raise my teens responsibly."

Your brain is like a big super computer. When it is running efficiently you can perform many tasks at one time but if it gets clogged up with a bunch of junk you download then it gets bogged down until finally you get the "blue screen of death" and your computer locks up on you. In this case my daughters face would go blank.

Your brain on Video GamesI sat down and made a list of everything that was clogging my daughters brain. My Space was number 1 on the list, texting 200 times a minute, video games, MTV and all those stupid reality shows (Love of Ray J, Rock of Love etc...). Anything on my list sound familiar.

Next I created a 10 step process that was very simple to follow yet would provide structure for my daughter.

I made it very clear to my daughter that if this didn't work she would probably end up in Juvy or worse.

Once we started this new 10 step process it was almost too good to be true. What I figured out was that she was begging my ex-wife and I for structure in her life but of course kids don't know that so she kept acting out in all the wrong ways to achieve what she thought was structure.

It a short period of time I had my daughter back. No arguing, no running away, no smoking, doing drugs or using profanity. I thought it was a miracle. Only a few months earlier I thought that there wasn’t any hope and I'm not kidding. I was literally at the end of my rope and I had no idea how to fix it.

The only problem was that after about 3 months she started hanging around the same kids but at a different school. Once again she was back to her old habits. We had to go back to basics again but this time I was more prepared. The web site helped me through this long journey and hopefully with our support it will help you too.

We also take it one step further. For parents with really extreme cases we will show you how to use the Department of Juvenile Justice to your favor. Did you know you can have your child put on house arrest by the judge? We will also show you how to use the DJJ to receive the following Free Services:

  • Free Counseling
  • Free Drug Testing
  • Free Physiological treatment
  • Free Admission into private Schools
  • Pretty much anything it takes to guide your teen via the court system until they reach the age of 19.

We will show you how to regain control over even the most troubled teen.

The 10 step process along with the articles and material on this web site are not a cure-all but will help you guide your child in the right direction. It is a long journey but with the help of our road map you can stay on course. Everyone has set backs including my daughter and that's why we invite you to become a member of our web site. Our volunteers are here to help you answer your tuff questions and support you along the bumpy road to success.

Things happen to good people for a reason and I am just thankful that I was able to help my daughter and use my experience to help others. In business you always want to ask successful people how they became successful so you don't have to make all the mistakes they did. It's the same in life. If I can help just one other person with their teens then my struggles are not in vain.

If you are still reading this then I know you are looking for help and you need help now! Every minute that passes by could mean disaster for your child.I have seen other sites offering CD's that cost hundreds of dollars. But first you have to order them and wait 2-3 weeks for them to arrive. Then you have to listen to them. You need help now!!!

"I was at my wits end with my teenager. She kept running away and I kept calling the police and filing reports. I was so mad and FRUSTRATED at the system and the police because no one would help me. I have been a member on your site for 3 weeks now and I have learned so much I feel like an expert! Your site is a life saver!"
